Pinao is the Hawaiian term for dragonfly, a symbol of transformation, resiliency, strength, power and poise. It is a year-round weekly life skills program of group classes. Our classes are facilitated by trained staff, guest instructors, and community volunteers. Youth, ages 13- 21 years old, learn employment skills, goal-setting, stress management, college and career preparation, independent living skills, health, problem-solving and communication skills.
Pinao utilizes the safety of a group class-like setting to assist the youth in gaining knowledge and learning new skills to prepare themselves to transition toward productive adulthood. We incorporate simple, hands-on methodologies that accommodate different learning styles (auditory, visual, kinesthetic).
